This premium brown sugar shochu from Amami Shurui harmonises the inherent sweet aroma and richness of brown sugar shochu with the rich, vanilla-like fragrance, mellow character, and deep umami imparted by oak barrel ageing. It is characterised by long-term maturation (over three years), black koji fermentation, and atmospheric distillation. It is recommended to enjoy its deep richness and aroma cleanly with water or soda, though drinking it on the rocks to savour the umami directly is also popular.
