Suminoe – A 36-Year Aged Kokuto Shochu, Beyond Human Craft

Suminoe is an exceptionally rare kokuto shochu, originally crafted over 36 years ago by Ishihara Shuzo, the predecessor of our distillery. Since acquiring this precious undiluted spirit, we have aged it carefully in our own cellar for more than three decades.

Made using traditional distillation methods, the shochu has matured into a deep, complex spirit with remarkable richness and character—something only time can create.

To honor its heritage, each bottle is adorned with a one-of-a-kind washi label, handcrafted using kusaki-zome, a natural plant-dyeing technique long practiced on Amami Oshima. Each label is handmade and unique, making every bottle truly irreplaceable.
