This exquisite spirit is crafted using brown sugar from Ukensō Village and natural water from Mount Yūwan, bottled exclusively from the rare first distillate (hanatare) obtained at the very start of the distillation process. It offers a concentrated, luxurious blend of aromatic richness and robust sweetness with deep umami. With a high alcohol content of 44%, it remains unfrozen even when chilled. Named from the initials ‘From Amami Ukenson’, it is characterised by a light yet vivid aroma of black sugar and a smooth palate.

🍶 Discover Kokuto Shochu — A Rare Spirit from Japan’s Amami Islands
From the lush Amami Islands in southern Japan comes Kokuto Shochu, a traditional spirit made from brown sugar and rice malt.
Unlike rum, it uses a special Japanese distillation method and is only allowed to be produced in Amami, making it truly unique.
Kokuto Shochu has deep roots in island culture, dating back to the Ryukyu Kingdom. It carries the flavors of nature, history, and craftsmanship—smooth, slightly sweet, and rich in character.
Whether sipped neat or mixed in a cocktail, this rare spirit offers a taste of tradition you can’t find anywhere else.
