Our Story

Our mission is to preserve the rich cultural heritage of Amami Oshima for future generations, safeguarding its traditions, craftsmanship, and natural beauty through sustainable practices and community engagement. We want to connect people to the breathtaking landscapes of Amami Island through our artisanal creations.

I have long been thinking about expressing my gratitude to Amami Oshima, the island where my mother was born and raised.

I believe it is crucial to share the traditional crafts produced on Amami Oshima, which has been registered as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site, with the world, and to preserve its people, products, and culture for future generations.

Oshima Tsumugi Silk

Authentic

Oshima tsumugi is among the world's most expensive fabrics due to its origins and its more than 1,300-year history. The fabric's artistry lies in its intricate weaving and dyeing processes, resulting in a soft, lightweight texture that is cool in summer and warm in winter. It takes over 30 meticulous processes to create a single piece, with weaving alone requiring six months to a year.
